Summary:ABSTRACT: This article tries to show the characteristics of several of the fundamental components of the judicial investigations for homicide in Medellín at the beginning of the XX century. In the first part, I will expose the way that expert and medical legists applied some scientific and technicians procedures to carry out the description of the mortal suffering wounds for a victim. Afterwards, I will present the particular properties of two methods that were incorporated to the judicial trainings and to the identification of criminals in the city, they were the anthropometry and the dactyloscopy.
