Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: This article shows some progress of the research called “The street soccer (picao), and its survival conditions in public spaces redefi ning for recreation and sport in Andalucía and Niquía neighborhoods, in Medellin and Bello municipalities. This is an ethnography developed through semi-structured interviews and fi eld recordings, including observations and photographs. Local residents and street soccer (picao) practitioners make the objective population. This study finds a social practice of informal prevalence, dramatically unfolded in a city that seems to redefine the recreational public space under the criteria of a utilitarian and consumerist sport, a domesticating and domesticated sport that imposes against the traditions and recreational experiences that are part of the practices and projected needs of the citizens marginalized themselves.
