description ABSTRACT: Six high quality Holstein cows (average of 6049 kg/305 days milk yield; 9.6 years old with 7.8 calving; 13.2 months of calving interval; and 1.9 breeds/conception) presented recurrent uterine infections with 340.5 open days after calving. After the last successful uterine treatment cows were induced to superovulation with constant FSH doses (days 11-14 of cycle), PGF2α day 13 (AM:PM) with AI (AM:PM) and GnRH treatment (AM) at the PGF2α-induced estrus. Eight days after AI cows were flushed and embryos recovered, classified and transferred to Holstein or cross-breed (F1) Brahman heifers synchronized with the donor. The average recovery rate was 10.3 embryos/flushing, with 39.4% non-fertilized oocytes, 30.3% attached and embryo quality significantly correlates with implantation rate (p <0.05). The age of the cows was significantly associated with embryo-recovering rate (p < 0.05). These results showed that progeny from high-quality dairy cows with recurrent uterine infections can be recovered by embryo transfer.

These results showed that progeny from high-quality dairy cows with recurrent uterine infections can be recovered by embryo transfer.RESUMEN: Seis vacas Holstein élite (promedio de 6049 kg de leche/305 días; 9.6 años de edad y 6.5 partos; IEP de 13.8 meses; y 1.9 S/C), presentaron problemas reproductivos caracterizados por infecciones uterinas recurrentes con 340 DA postparto. Después del último tratamiento para infección uterina las vacas se sometieron al esquema de inducción de superovulación con dosis constantes de FSH (días 11-14 del ciclo), aplicación de PGF2α el día 13 (AM:PM), e IA (AM:PM) y administración de GnRH (AM) el día del celo. A los 8 días se hizo lavado, recolección, clasificación y transferencia de embriones a receptoras Holstein o Brahman comercial (F1), sincronizadas con el ciclo de la donadora. Se obtuvo un promedio de 9 (± 4.8) embriones por lavado, con 39.4% de oocitos no fecundados, 30.3% de embriones transferibles y 30.3% de no transferibles. El 50% de los embriones transferidos se implantaron y la calidad del embrión se correlaciono con la tasa de implantación (p < 0.05). La edad de la vaca se correlaciono con el número de embriones por lavado (p < 0.05).
