Summary: | ABSTRACT: To identify technical criteria of community interventions in nutritional habits that could be implemented in Latin American urban areas. Methods: A systematic review was developed analyzing studies published since 1990. The emphasis was focused on the description of the process and the evaluation of the effectiveness of the interventions. Results: 25 experiences were reviewed, form which 23 exclusively approached interventions in physical activity. The behavior theories and models criteria were the following: social influences theory (7), social cognitive theory (6), transtheoretical model (1), a combination of social cognitive theory and transtheoretical model (3) and others (3). Five studies did not describe a theory model. Conclusions: Interventions that achieved an appropriate effect showed an integral approach, involved the community in the design and definition of a maintenance stage, an adequate characterization of the problem and a clear definition of the targets. The importance of validating such interventions in the context of Latin American countries is pointed out. |
