Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: Nursing research has traditionally been dominated by quantitative methods. In spite of this, qualitative methodology is well accepted among nurses. They are the health professionals most involved in qualitative research studies. These studies are producing a corpus of knowledge in nursing care that is making visible the work of nurses, patients and their relatives. Qualitative studies also enable the development of nursing theories closely related to practice. This paper examines the contribution of qualitative research to nursing practice. Based on finding of previous research studies in the health care, knowledge produced by qualitative studies enlightens professionals and raises questions that guide the practice. Therefore, while researchers’ responsibility is to make studies accessible, professionals is to evaluate its fit and relevance to the specific practical situations.
