ABSTRACT: The academic and professional profile of nurses from the University of Antioquia School of Nursing that held the obligatory social service at institutions of first and second health assistance levels in the Province of Antioquia during the first semester of 1993. The methodology of prospective analysis was used in order to carry out a quali-quantitative evaluation of management function of the academic and professional profile. An attitude Likert- like scale was applied for the identification of nurses satisfaction level with the received education and management performance. The study shows that the nurses consider relevant all the theoretical background in management received at the University; They also state that first level health assistance hospitals offer better opportunities to have an autonomous performance in the obligatory social service. Nurses are sure facing the making of decisions regarding nursing assistance and are not sure in personal management. |

Nurses are sure facing the making of decisions regarding nursing assistance and are not sure in personal management.RESUMEN: Se analizó el perfil académico ocupacional de los profesionales de la Facultad de Enfermeria de la universidad de Antioquia, que realizaron el servicio social obligatorio en instituciones de primer y segundo nivel de atención en salud del departamento de Antioquia, durante el primer semestre de 1993. Se utilizó la metodología de análisis prospectivo mediante la cual se realizó evaluación cuali-cuantitativa de la función administrativa del perfil académico y del perfil ocupacional. Se aplicó una escala de actitud tipo Likert para identificar el grado de satisfacción del profesional con su formación y desempeño administrativo. El estudio muestra que los profesionales de enfermeria consideran importantes todos los conocimientos teóricos de administración recibidos durante la formación académica; expresan, además, que los hospitales de primer nivel de atención ofrecen mejores oportunidades para el desempeño autónomo del servicio social obligatorio.
