Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: Water is today an important worldwide political and geostrategical question. Colombia, which is one of the biggest water reserve in the world, supplies with water only ffty percent of its population. Resource and ecosystems' degradation, polution, waste, growth of the population and its concentration in urban centers, lack of equity regarding the access to water, are some of the problems preventing the country from a sustainable development. With the objective to give an account of the valu granted to water, we proposed a study to identify the social representation of water for a determined Colombian social group. We interviewed 150 students in social sciences from Bogot. The prototypical and category analysis allowed us to set up hypotheses regarding the characteristics of the social representation of water worked out by the group.
