Summary: | ABSTRACT: Encephalitozoonosis is an emmerging zoonotic disease caused by the microsporidio Encephalitozoon cuniculi which was recently diagnosticated for the first time in the province of Antioquia (Colombia). Looking for the prevalence of this disease and the caracterization of kidney´s affections, an anathomopathological study was carried and in the kidneys of 100 asintomatic rabbits just when slaughtered at the “Hacienda El Progreso” of the Universidad de Antioquia..The diagnostic was based an the macroscopic find-out of the kidney lesions; Histhopathology by using the standard coloration Hematoxilina- Eosina and the parasite evidence by means of special coloration, Sandiford, Ziehl- Neelsen and Warthin- Starry, Statistics analyses was realised by using descriptive statistic and independence and contingency of Chi square to stablish the association level between some variables under the study. Encephalitozoonosis prevalence in rabitts was 5% and it was allways in relation with interstitial nefritis , since, it can be concluded that this disease has a high rat of subclinical presentation and thus that, in the province of Antioquia there is a new emmerging disease which affects the rabbit industry and represent a public health patiental risk factor. |
