En esta propuesta nos interesa problematizar y comprender el lugar que ocupa el lenguaje en las relaciones de alteridad que se tejen en medio del conflicto, la opresión y el aislamiento, en las obras Foe (1986) y La edad de hierro (1990). A través de los personajes de estas novelas nos adentraremos en las posibilidades o imposibilidades del lenguaje en tanto configuración cultural determinada por circunstancias sociohistóricas. Finalmente, la mirada del rostro del otro, el lenguaje como morada o como gramática de lo inhumano, serán algunas metáforas que participarán en la configuración de sentido alrededor de los temas enunciados. |

This paper seeks to problematize and understand the place occupied by language in the relation- ships of otherness created in the midst of conflict, oppression and isolation, in the novels Foe (1986) and Age of Iron (1990). Through the characters in these novels we will explore the possibilities and impossibilities of language as a cultural configuration determined by social circumstances.
