Summary: | ABSTRACT: This paper verse about galleys naval capacity on peripheral territories of the Spanish Empire: Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean Sea and Filipinas on the Pacific Ocean. The time line comprehends the governments of Felipe II and III: 1571 the battle of Lepanto, biggest galley warfare and 1621, as the truce with the dutch ended. Since its focus is about galley, quick cabotage ships, the analysis will be more related to the Mediterranean Sea more than the Atlantic Ocean. It also develops the state-owned network to provide the galleys. |
