description RESUMEN: Este artículo presenta una reflexión acerca de la manera como se ha comprendido la comunicación para el cambio social en el Pregrado de Comunicaciones de la Universidad de Antioquia, con miras a proponer una ruta para su resignificación. A través de una revisión documental de trabajos de grado y de un rastreo genealógico de esta perspectiva, se plantea la necesidad de superar el concepto de desarrollo articulado al ejercicio de la comunicación para encaminar el debate hacia apuestas recientes que le otorgan un carácter contrahegemónico y emancipador, acorde con la realidad de las sociedades latinoamericanas. Esta indagación pone a dialogar la Comunicación para el Cambio Social y la Investigación Crítica al encontrar semejanzas y complementariedades en sus andamiajes metodológicos, que dejan ver las tensiones existentes en la manera en que se aborda esta perspectiva desde los trabajos de grado y retoma aspectos epistémicos del campo para confrontar el carácter descriptivo que ha adquirido la producción de conocimiento desde la comunicación para el cambio social, cuando el problema que plantea este enfoque es el de cómo investigar la realidad para transformarla.

Through a documentary review of undergraduate works and a genealogical tracking of this perspective, the need to overcome the concept of development linked to the exercise of communication and to close the debate towards recent bets that give it a counter-hegemonic and emancipatory, following the reality of Latin American society.
