description RESUMEN: “La educación ambiental como estrategia para la participación comunitaria y el turismo sostenible. Una reflexión basada en el municipio de Rionegro, en el Oriente Antioqueño”, desarrollado en el programa de Gestión en Ecología y Turismo de la Universidad de Antioquia, Seccional Oriente. Su finalidad es abarcar aspectos que evidencien los problemas y las soluciones que nacen a raíz de este trabajo. En el desarrollo de esta investigación se evidencia que la Educación Ambiental es planteada como una estrategia de gran importancia para lograr la concientización y la participación de las comunidades locales generando sentido de pertenencia mediante la apropiación del territorio, a partir de la ejecución de proyectos enfocados al turismo sostenible se pretenden consolidar espacios donde todos los que se encuentren alrededor sean beneficiados directa e indirectamente. Para llevar a cabo este trabajo de grado se utilizó una metodología basada en la revisión y análisis documental fundamentada en investigaciones, trabajos que se han realizado anteriormente en el Oriente Antioqueño y más específicamente en Rionegro, se complementó con la participación de las secretarías encargadas que poseen información pertinente para el proyecto, entrevistas dirigidas principalmente a las dependencias encargadas de manejar el área de turismo y los recursos naturales del municipio.

It is a reflection based on Rionegro and on the eastern of Antioquia; it is a project developed in the Ecology and Tourism Management Program of the University of Antioquia, Oriente Sectional. It is intended to cover aspects that show the problems and solutions that arise from this work. In the progress of this research, it is evidenced that the environmental education is developed as a strategy with a big importance to reach the awareness and the involvement of local communities, and in that way these ones achieve to be the ones that appropriate the territory. Through this, they could fulfill the advance and the implementation of sustainable tourism projects, where all those around them are directly and indirectly benefited.
