Summary:Breastfeeding is a natural practice and has existed since the dawn of the human species, but the act of breastfeeding is influenced by sociodemographic and biopsychocultural factors. Thus, this study addresses the care practices carried out by rural nursing mothers, which are linked to their customs, traditions, beliefs and related to their rural environment, where they learn from their culture all those habits that are included in the upbringing of their children. This research was based on Madeleine Leininger's theory of diversity and universality of cultural care, which states that nursing professionals should provide care that is culturally congruent with the population being cared for and with the needs of individuals and their family environment, thus offering comprehensive care
