Summary: | Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can be preventable and treatable, in this the bronchioles suffer damage and gas exchange is restricted, as COPD worsens it is more difficult to perform the usual daily activities, as mentioned by the World Organization of the Health (WHO). Objective of this research was to determine the self-care capacity of people with COPD enrolled in a Health Program of a Private IPS in the city of Montería - Córdoba. Methodology, cross-sectional descriptive study with a quantitative approach, in a sample of 200 patients enrolled in the Respira Program of the private IPS, the information was collected through the instrument "Assessment of self-care agency capacity assessment scale." version validated in Spanish and taking into account Dorothea Orem's Self-Care Deficit theory. Results, in most of the items that enhance self-care, denoting that they are capable of taking care of themselves adequately by showing availability to maintain their health, seeking positive alternatives to solve situations that affect them, being attentive to changes in their condition, and seeking help from others. the family or the health team. |
