Description
Summary:The sharpnose dogfish shark, Rhizoprionodon porosus is a coastal habitat species, and consequently, one of the most commonly caught elasmobranch species with hooks and artisanal fishing nets. Despite this presence, there is little information available on the biology and other aspects of this population that would contribute to an adequate fisheries management. The purpose of this paper is to provide information on the biology and reproductive aspects of R. porosus in the context of artisanal fisheries in order to provide an overview of the current status of the species, through a literature review, conducted throughout the Colombian Caribbean. Providing information to experts, students, technicians and the community interested in the general knowledge of cartilaginous fishes. For this purpose, a bibliographic analysis of different documents such as theses, technical reports and scientific publications was carried out.
