Description
Summary:The development of the life cycle consists of different stages in which the subjects from their context experience multiple body and behavioral changes, likewise, they acquire experiences, knowledge and progressively build the foundations of their later years, which mark their life trajectory, so that old age, being the last stage of the life cycle, is characterized by preserving traditional knowledge of their ancestors, by their wisdom in the circumstances of life and by being the memory of history. The research arose from the recognition of this population as subjects of rights with a participation at a social level and the importance of the diverse contributions that they can generate to the formation of future generations, therefore, its objective is to know the knowledge acquired in the trajectory of older adults, being its qualitative approach in which the stories and identification of the knowledge from the feelings of the subjects are prioritized. Similarly, the methodology was proposed by the authors Bonilla and Rodriguez, retaking the comprehensive interpretative paradigm and the theory of symbolic interactionism for its approach to the different meanings of social life. In this research process, nine (9) semi-structured interviews and didactic meetings were conducted for an approach to the community belonging to the Pastoral group for the elderly of the parish Santa María de Caná, of the Diocese of Soacha located in the city of Bogotá. Finally, it was evidenced that the subjects have their own knowledge in agricultural activities, home care, cooking, knitting, sewing and handicrafts and academic knowledge in the areas of gastronomy, first aid and accounting, each knowledge generates a feeling in people, since from their evocation they remember moments that give meaning to their achievements of each stage and their current situation, It was also found that the different institutions implement programs for the welfare of the population in compliance with the various public policies, however, it is observed that there is an absence of processes that motivate people to continue building their life project from an empowerment approach. Therefore, from Social Work, starting from the diverse trajectories of each subject that allow the recognition of their knowledge and their social conditions, it is essential the implementation of spaces in which there is an intergenerational interaction to form, raise awareness and promote future healthy societies and participants of the processes that occur in their various contexts.
