description Cryptosporidium spp hace parte de la familia Cryptosporidiidae y del orden Eucoccidiorida. G. duodenalis hace parte de la familia Hexamitidae y orden Diplomonadida. Son protozoarios con amplia distribución a nivel mundial y se encuentran relacionados con problemas digestivos en el ganado vacuno, pequeños rumiantes, animales domésticos e incluso el humano. Los afectados en mayor medida son los animales inmunosuprimidos, especialmente, los animales jóvenes de días o meses de edad pueden cursar síndrome diarreico neonatal, ocasionando importantes pérdidas económicas. Por medio de este estudio descriptivo de corte transversal cuyo objetivo fue detectar la presencia de Cryptosporidium spp y Giardia duodenalis en pequeños rumiantes por medio de IFD en un total de 97 ovinos- caprinos de cuatro veredas de distintos municipios situados en altitudes entre los 1300 y 2500 m.s.n.m. Los datos se obtuvieron por medio de un registro epidemiológico de fincas. La descripción de las variables fue mediante análisis univariados y bivariados con pruebas estadísticas de chi cuadrado y OR, con los posibles factores de riesgo asociados a la presencia de Cryptosporidium y Giardia. La presencia de ooquistes-quistes en cabras fue del 27,2% y en ovejas el 9,33%. Respecto, a la presencia de quistes en cabras fue del 36,3% y en ovejas del 17,3%. Los factores de riesgo asociados fueron; el clima, tipo de explotación intensivo, la limpieza y el manejo de desecho de excretas (abono). Este estudio permitió evidenciar la prevalencia de Cryptosporidium y Giardia en ovinos y caprinos de las cuatros veredas muestreadas, contribuyendo así, al conocimiento de la situación epidemiológica de los protozoarios en cuestión.

G. duodenalis hace parte de la familia Hexamitidae y orden Diplomonadida. Son protozoarios con amplia distribución a nivel mundial y se encuentran relacionados con problemas digestivos en el ganado vacuno, pequeños rumiantes, animales domésticos e incluso el humano. Los afectados en mayor medida son los animales inmunosuprimidos, especialmente, los animales jóvenes de días o meses de edad pueden cursar síndrome diarreico neonatal, ocasionando importantes pérdidas económicas. Por medio de este estudio descriptivo de corte transversal cuyo objetivo fue detectar la presencia de Cryptosporidium spp y Giardia duodenalis en pequeños rumiantes por medio de IFD en un total de 97 ovinos- caprinos de cuatro veredas de distintos municipios situados en altitudes entre los 1300 y 2500 m.s.n.m. Los datos se obtuvieron por medio de un registro epidemiológico de fincas. La descripción de las variables fue mediante análisis univariados y bivariados con pruebas estadísticas de chi cuadrado y OR, con los posibles factores de riesgo asociados a la presencia de Cryptosporidium y Giardia. La presencia de ooquistes-quistes en cabras fue del 27,2% y en ovejas el 9,33%. Respecto, a la presencia de quistes en cabras fue del 36,3% y en ovejas del 17,3%. Los factores de riesgo asociados fueron; el clima, tipo de explotación intensivo, la limpieza y el manejo de desecho de excretas (abono). Este estudio permitió evidenciar la prevalencia de Cryptosporidium y Giardia en ovinos y caprinos de las cuatros veredas muestreadas, contribuyendo así, al conocimiento de la situación epidemiológica de los protozoarios en cuestión.RESUMEN 1 1.
