description La resistencia bacteriana es un problema de carácter mundial que pone en riesgo la salud humana y agota las opciones terapéuticas contra bacterias patógenas multiresistentes a los antibióticos. La resistencia a la colistina estaba asociada a mutaciones cromosomales, sin embargo, en el año 2015 reportaron por primera vez el gen mcr-1 que genera resistencia a polimixinas a través de plásmidos. Después de este, se han realizado reportes prácticamente por todo el mundo, asociados tanto a aislamientos de origen animal como humanos. En Colombia fue detectado por primera vez en el año 2016 en tres aislamientos de Salmonella entérica serovar Typhimurium y un aislamiento de E. coli. En esta investigación se estudiaron 32 aislados de E. coli recolectados de instituciones hospitalarias de tercer nivel en Colombia con el objetivo de determinar las características genéticas y fenotipicas de resistencia.De los 32 aislamientos estudiados, se confirmaron 7 como resistentes a colistina por metodología CBDE. La PCR mostro que 5 de los 7 aislados portaban genes mcr-1,uno de estos con fenotipo BLEE resistente a ceftriaxona, cefotaxime y susceptibilidad reducida a ceftazidime y confirmación de CTXM-55 por SGC.Dos aislamientos presentaron clonalidad del 100% por PFGE, la mayoria de aislados con grupo filogenético B1 y dos compartiendo el mismo MLST, se detectaron distintos plasmidos con predominio IncFII y dentro de su entorno genético se pudo identificar un aislado portando mcr-1 posiblemente en un plasmido tipo Incl.

La resistencia a la colistina estaba asociada a mutaciones cromosomales, sin embargo, en el año 2015 reportaron por primera vez el gen mcr-1 que genera resistencia a polimixinas a través de plásmidos. Después de este, se han realizado reportes prácticamente por todo el mundo, asociados tanto a aislamientos de origen animal como humanos. En Colombia fue detectado por primera vez en el año 2016 en tres aislamientos de Salmonella entérica serovar Typhimurium y un aislamiento de E. coli. En esta investigación se estudiaron 32 aislados de E. coli recolectados de instituciones hospitalarias de tercer nivel en Colombia con el objetivo de determinar las características genéticas y fenotipicas de resistencia.De los 32 aislamientos estudiados, se confirmaron 7 como resistentes a colistina por metodología CBDE. La PCR mostro que 5 de los 7 aislados portaban genes mcr-1,uno de estos con fenotipo BLEE resistente a ceftriaxona, cefotaxime y susceptibilidad reducida a ceftazidime y confirmación de CTXM-55 por SGC.Dos aislamientos presentaron clonalidad del 100% por PFGE, la mayoria de aislados con grupo filogenético B1 y dos compartiendo el mismo MLST, se detectaron distintos plasmidos con predominio IncFII y dentro de su entorno genético se pudo identificar un aislado portando mcr-1 posiblemente en un plasmido tipo Incl.1.
