Description
Summary:In downtown Panama is located Old Panama, which is an important monumental group that comprise the ruins of the first European establishment and the vestiges of pre-Hispanic inhabitants; it is also the place of the second foundation called Casco Antiguo. These places present a high state of dereliction, but in turn they keep a strong historical value, reason for which in July of the 2003 the UNESCO declared them World Patrimony of the Humanity. A recognition like such was the result of a constant work and of multiple interventions in head of different entities: of the State, through the office of Casco Antiguo and of the private initiative, by means of which was achieved the restoration and recycling of the existent housing, and the mixed action, represented by the Patronage Old Panama. In this article are shown some of the actions undertaken by each one of the entities that intervened in this achievement to the service of the humanity’s patrimony.
