Summary:Western society has expressed concern over the increase in crime, in this situation have developed policies that seek to respond to this concern. The aim of this paper is to establish what are the options from the public policy that have been implemented to deal with the rise of crime and its relationship to the policies presented in the fight against terrorism. For this research used the method of analysis of documentary sources. The result is that public safety policy is building measures similar to those implemented in the fight against terrorism. The article is the result of research developed by the group “Derecho, Sociedad y globalización” Universidad Católica de Colombia and the text presents a reflection on the emphasison security and political discourses of safety. This study was a research assistant political analyst Felipe Ortega Andrés Gómez, a member of the Research Group “Seguridad y Defensa”, Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
