Summary: | An experimental condition as social deprivation has been being part of animal models in order to produce stress and changes in its emotional systems. The aim of this study was to know how both aggression and anxiety levels are modificated by different periods of social deprivation in wistar males rats. 56 animals were assigned to 7 groups, 4 control and 3 experimental groups. These last, were submitted to deprivation in periods of 15, 30 and 60 days. After each period, the anxiety was measured in the elevated plus-maze, and later the aggression in the intruder-resident paradigm. The results showed that anxiety in experimental groups is significantly increased in 15 days time of deprivation, maintaining an ascent tendency up to 30 days, period in which the aggression was slight elevated. In addition, just in 15 days after, it could be established that the anxiety level by deprivation is major than that occurring when a new social group is integrated. In periods of 30 and 60 days, differences were not found because of both conditions. The results enable the study of other behavioral and electrophysiological variables along the periods of social deprivation. |
