Los humanos, como otras especies sociales, viven en relación mutua con otros individuos de su especie y exhiben naturalmente interacciones tanto agresivas como prosociales, las primeras entendidas como aquellas que pretenden disminuir el bienestar del otro (Ehrenreich, Beron, & Underwood, 2016) y las segundas, definidas como acciones que van dirigidas a beneficiar a los demás (Jensen, 2016). Tales interacciones dependen de procesos cognitivos que han evolucionado precisamente para afrontar los retos que implica la vida en grupos y su maduración se desarrolla necesariamente en contextos sociales (Burnett, Sebastian, Kadosh, & Blakemore, 2011; Parkinson & Wheatley, 2015). La adolescencia es un periodo del desarrollo donde la pertenencia a un grupo de pares, la posición dentro del grupo y las interacciones con el sexo opuesto se vuelven prioridades. Estos cambios en el comportamiento van acompañados, además, de cambios cognitivos, emocionales y físicos (Lansu & Troop-Gordon, 2017; Moore, Harden, & Mendle, 2014; Pellegrini, 2003). |
