Lessons From a Couple of Rookie Receptionists

The culmination of our internship not only marks the end of a formative chapter, but also the beginning of an enriching journey full of significant learning. By enhancing our language skills, we have overcome communication barriers and turned theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom into practical skills applicable to real-life situations. The experience gained in fields related to our business training has been invaluable, allowing us not only to understand, but also to actively contribute to the functioning of a key sector: the hotel and tourism industry. Acquiring intercultural experience has been a jewel in our journey. Interacting with people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds has not only broadened our perspective, but also improved our interpersonal skills. As professionals, we are immersed in the development of a receptive and open attitude towards the cultural diversity that is presented to us. We promote healthy coexistence and harmonious interaction in social contexts. We take care of our roots and use the knowledge of foreign languages as the basis of our identity in order to participate actively and responsibly in society. The detailed understanding of how a hotel works and the immersion in the tourism sector have left an indelible mark on our training. These practical experiences have not only consolidated our theoretical knowledge, but have also provided us with a comprehensive and practical vision that will be fundamental in our professional future. This chapter concludes with the certainty that the lessons learned and experiences gained will be the solid foundation on which we will build our future in the business world and beyond.
