And also, recently it was pre-Hispanic department of Nariño, where evidence of dental wear was found, but it is not confirmed if these injuries are similar to the habit of munching. Objective. To explain the topography of the worn dental surface in teeth of a pre-Hispanic people of the department of Nariño. Materials x and Methods. Three dental samples come from two different individuals, dating from the pre-Hispanic period, were gotten from a population in this zone, All the ethical aspects received approval by the dental ethics council Excavation samples were found in University in this place, the samples were gotten because of the help of the archeology group association in south of the country, who realized the excavation and gave approval to this samples for research purposes. The teeth were analyzed macroscopically, and also a fragment was obtained from each tooth that was metallized and analyzed in scanning electron microscopy (LYRA 3 TESCAN microscope). Results. macroscopically, wear of up to 3 apparent dentin involvement was seen, in addition the wear pattern showed a form of striae on the occlusal surface. In the microscopic analysis, cracked enamel surfaces, microfractures, cavities, aprismatic surfaces, discontinuous depressions and interlamellar spaces were observed in the occlusal surface. Conclusion. The results of this study show that the microscopic findings of the pre-Hispanic samples are similar to those produced by the habit of chewing the coca leaf or "munching “further studies are required to confirm the practice of munching in the people from this place. |

El “mambeo” es el habito ancestral indígena que consiste en masticar un amasijo compuesto por la planta de coca, ceniza, caliza, entre otros. Un estudio reciente realizado en muestras contemporáneas demostró que el mambeo puede ocasionar desgastes dentales que presentan características microscópicas únicas, diferentes a las ocasionadas por atrición o erosión. Por otra parte, recientemente se hallaron muestras dentales prehispánicas en una excavación en el departamento de Nariño, en los que se encontró evidencia de desgastes dentales, pero se desconoce si estas lesiones están asociadas al hábito de mambeo. Objetivo: Describir la topografía de la superficie dental desgastada en dientes de una población prehispánica del departamento de Nariño. Materiales y Método: se obtuvo tres muestras dentales pertenecientes a dos individuos diferentes, datadas del periodo prehispánico de una población del departamento de Nariño. Todos los aspectos éticos fueron aprobados por el comité de ética de la Universidad Antonio Nariño. Las muestras fueron obtenidas gracias a la colaboración del grupo de arqueología de la concesionaria vial Unión del Sur, quienes hicieron la excavación y autorizaron el uso de muestras con fines de investigación. Las piezas dentales fueron analizadas macroscópicamente, además, de cada diente se obtuvo un fragmento que fue metalizado y analizado en microscopia electrónica de barrido (microscopio LYRA 3 TESCAN). Resultados: macroscópicamente se observaron desgastes de hasta 3 mm sin compromiso aparente de la dentina, además el patrón ix del desgaste mostró una forma de estrías en la superficie oclusal.
