Summary: | SaludCoop, a health services cooperative in Colombia, became one of the largest companies in the country thanks to the enactment of Law 100 in 1993. However, its growth was marked by financial mismanagement and fraudulent practices. Carlos Palaccino, the manager of SaludCoop, diverted parafiscal resources intended for medical care to increase the company's assets in national and foreign investments, fixed assets and expenses not related to health. Palaccino's lack of ethics and greed affected millions of people who were affiliates and contributed to this entity. |
