To complete the design, the selection of materials is necessary through a methodology based on the guidelines LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) on the life cycle of materials with categories indicating their importance depending on the building component such as foundation, structure, walls and cover in relation to the type of building that although this research exercise is applied to the design of temporary shelters can be replicated in the design of other types of buildings. The selection of materials is presented as the basis for a later stage of environmental simulations where different configurations with better performance materials are proposed in order to also evaluate the thermal performance and tend to minimize the environmental impact.Con el fin de mitigar el impacto que causa la pérdida del hogar debido a los constantes eventos naturales, se propone el diseño de un sistema constructivo adecuado que permita el alojamiento temporal de los afectados. Para que el diseño sea integral se hace necesaria la selección de materiales a través de una metodología basada en los lineamientos LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) sobre el ciclo de vida de los materiales con categorías que denotan la importancia de estas según el componente de edificio como cimentación, estructura, envolvente y cubierta en relación con el tipo de edificación que aunque en este ejercicio de investigación se aplica al diseño de alojamientos temporales, puede ser replicado en el diseño de otro tipo de edificaciones.
