Summary:The present research had as objective to establish a correlation between emotional intelligence and academic performance in Students of odontology and psychology of 4th semester and go on, of Antonio Nariño University. It was made based on quantitative methodology with correlational-descriptive method and it was done with the inventory instrument of emotional coefficient of BarOn I-CE. To determine the academic performance were obtain the 2019 first semester grades. Results of research make evident that, unlike odontology program, psychology program presents higher levels of emotional intelligence. In the same way, they were identified difficulties in impulses control and adaptive skills in both programs. According to second variable, academic performance, it was evidenced that it is high. In conclusion, students presents low levels in emotional intelligence abilities, but these do not determine the academic performance of learners.
