Methods: In the first place, the research question was established: What are the conventional and alternative techniques for behavioral management in the pediatric dentistry office reported in the literature between 2015-2019? A preliminary information search was then carried out and the systematic review protocol based on the Cochrane manual was developed. Subsequently, the international prospective registration was carried out in Prospero. A search was then carried out with a PICO question specifying the following terms: patient, intervention, comparison intervention, and outcome. The search was carried out with the terms: Children, Dentistry, For; Dentistry, Children, Behavior; in the following six databases: Cochrane Library (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews CDSR, DARE Effects Review Summaries Database, HTA Health Technology Assessment Database); Pubmed, Science Direct; Proquest. Subsequently, the articles obtained were evaluated with the STROBE method and their critical reading was guided by the CASPe guide. Then, the data extraction and its respective tabulation was carried out in Excel. Finally, the information was analyzed. Here the variables and data to be taken from each study were determined. The research instrument was the numerically modified checklist of McEvoy et al. Then, the global analysis was calculated by subgroups with their respective tables and graphs. The PRISMA-P 2015 guide was applied to write the results. Results: 32 articles were included, of which 56% report the use of one or more techniques for the management of pediatric dentistry, where the basic conventional techniques were: say / show / do in 4%, positive reinforcement in 4% , presence / absence 4%, modeling 4%, advanced conventional techniques: pharmacological 4%, sedation 23%, general anesthesia 14%, protective stabilization 4%; and the alternative techniques were: hypnosis 4%, active distraction type virtual reality 18%, other active distraction 4% and passive distraction type audio / music 9%. Additionally, the studies were categorized according to the Mc Evoy instruments and suggestions and recommendations were established for the Children's Clinic of the Antonio Nariño University.Objetivo: Realizar una revisión sistemática comparando las técnicas convencionales y alternativas para el manejo de la conducta en la consulta odontológica con niños en los años 2015-2019. Métodos: En primer lugar, se estableció la pregunta de investigación: ¿Cuáles son las técnicas convencionales y alternativas para el manejo conductual en el consultorio de odontopediatría reportadas por la literatura entre 2015-2019? Luego se llevó a cabo la búsqueda de información preliminar y se desarrolló el protocolo de revisión sistemática basado en el manual Cochrane. Posteriormente, se realizó el registro prospectivo internacional en Prospero. Luego se realizó una búsqueda con una pregunta PICO que especifica los siguientes términos: paciente, intervención, intervención de comparación y resultado. La búsqueda se realizó con los términos: Children, Dentistry, For; Dentistry, Children, Behaviour; en las siguientes seis bases de datos: Cochrane Library (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews CDSR, DARE Effects Review Summaries Database, HTA Health Technology Assessment Database); Pubmed, Science Direct; Proquest. Posteriormente, los artículos obtenidos fueron evaluados con el método STROBE y su lectura crítica fue guiada por la guía CASPe. Luego, la extracción de datos y su respectiva tabulación se realizó en Excel. Finalmente, se procedió con el análisis de la información. Aquí se determinaron las variables y datos que se tomarán de cada estudio. El instrumento de la investigación fue la lista de verificación modificada numéricamente de McEvoy et al. Luego, el análisis global se calculó por subgrupos con sus respectivas tablas y gráficos. Se aplicó la guía PRISMA-P 2015 para redactar los resultados. Resultados: Se incluyeron 32 artículos, de los cuales el 56% reporta el uso de una o más técnicas para el manejo de la conducta odontopediátrica, donde las técnicas convencionales básicas fueron: decir / mostrar/ hacer en un 4%, refuerzo positivo 4%, presencia/ausencia 4%, modelado 4%, técnicas convencionales avanzadas: farmacológicas 4%, sedación 23%, anestesia general 14%, estabilización protectora 4%; y las técnicas alternativas fueron: hipnosis 4%, distracción activa tipo realidad virtual 18%, otra distracción activa 4% y distracción pasiva tipo audio/música 9%.
