Considering these aspects, the text is aimed at exposing, succinctly, the origins of these green spaces, their various functions, as well as describing the most prominent Botanical Gardens in Colombia and the world. It is intended to highlight the work and activities that these spaces carry out, in order to motivate their visit and promote an environmental education that favors changes in the behavior and attitudes of students at all school levels.Los Jardines Botánicos, además de tener una importancia como medio de información y difusión sobre el mundo de las plantas, son considerados espacios de recreación pasiva, de protección, preservación y conservación de una gran variedad de especies, y de investigación en el campo vegetal. Considerando estos aspectos, el texto se orienta a exponer, de manera sucinta, los orígenes de estos espacios verdes, sus diversas funciones, así como describir los Jardines Botánicos más destacados en Colombia y el mundo.
