These settlements usually occur regularly due to very common causes such as inadequate soil compaction during formation, the presence of expansive or unstable soils and the variation in groundwater levels. Factors such as soil overload and excessive extraction of groundwater and changes in applied loads over long periods of time can also be a cause of these. |

Estas deformaciones pueden alterar la estabilidad y la funcionalidad de las edificaciones y cualquier otro tipo de estructura. Estos asentamientos suelen presentarse regularmente por causas muy comunes como son la compactación inadecuada del suelo durante la conformación, la presencia de suelos expansivos o inestables y la variación en los niveles freáticos de aguas subterráneas.
