Summary:Innovation at the national level has been seen as a tool for strengthening the competitiveness and productivity efficiency of companies individually, and of the regions collectively. 4 However, different investigations indicate that, during the years 2014 and 2015, 105 Pymes in the region need to be strengthened in terms of knowledge generation and innovation. Then, the purposes of evaluating and strengthening the innovation capacities of Boyacá companies are proposed, as a way to contribute to the regional competitiveness strategy. Based on this proposal, an information gathering instrument is created taking into account a sampling of Boyacá Pymes. Based on the results obtained, the innovation capacities of Pymes will be analyzed and evaluated, which will allow improving the performance of companies and thus can be applied for decision-making in the design of strategies for regional innovation.
