The Trypanosoma cruzi parasite is responsible for Chagas disease, mostly found in areas with scarce resources, which limits research focused on the development of non-toxic treatments for patients, in comparison with the drugs currently used: Nifurtimox and Benznidazole, which have adverse effects.
