Available from: /pmc/articles/PMC3820566/?report=abstractinstname:Universidad Antonio Nariñoreponame:Repositorio Institucional UANrepourl:https://repositorio.uan.edu.co/PropiaObjective: To analyze the information available in databases on the use of ophthalmic filters in patients with low vision. Methodology: bibliographic review, using keywords such as low vision, optical filters and rehabilitation, in the following databases PubMed, ScienceDirect and Scielo. The search included articles in English and Spanish, between 2005 and 2020, once the articles were selected, they were organized and divided by topic, the most relevant information about the filters, their use and application was collected. The thematic categories that were analyzed were. Visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, satisfaction, comfort and reading speed. Results: 224 articles were obtained, of which 112 were discarded that were not related to ophthalmic filters and low vision, 92 because they did not provide relevant information, 5 were repeated, 15 articles were finally selected. A significant improvement was identified with the use of filters specifically in diseases such as central and peripheral scotomas, diabetic retinopathy, cystoid macular edema, cataract, glaucoma, hypoplasia of the N.O, RD, RP, DM and amblyopia. In the case of contrast sensitivity, an increase was evidenced with the use of filters in pathologies such as central and peripheral scotomas, diabetic retinopathy. Conclusion: although some improvement is reported in some people and a subjective progress report, which can fully help rehabilitation through adequate prescription in patients with low vision, it is necessary to carry out more studies with more objective data, well-controlled trials and analyzes rigorous, to determine if any real benefit can be obtained from the use of filters.Objetivo: Analizar la información disponible en bases de datos, sobre el uso de los filtros oftálmicos en pacientes con baja visión. Metodología: revisión bibliográfica, usando palabras claves como baja visión, filtros ópticos y rehabilitación, en las siguientes bases de datos PubMed, ScienceDirect y Scielo. En la búsqueda se incluyeron artículos en inglés, español, entre los años 2005 y 2020, una vez seleccionados los artículos se organizaron y se dividieron por temas, se tomó la información más relevante acerca de los filtros, su uso y aplicación. Las categorías temáticas que se analizaron fueron. Agudeza visual, sensibilidad al contraste, satisfacción, comodidad y velocidad de lectura. Resultados: se obtuvieron 224 artículos, de los cuales se descartaron 112 que no tenían relación con filtros oftálmicos y baja visión, 92 porque no aportaron información relevante, 5 repetidos, finalmente se seleccionan 15 artículos. Se identifico una mejora significativa con uso de filtros específicamente en enfermedades como escotomas centrales y periféricos, retinopatía diabética, edema macular cistoide, catarata, glaucoma, hipoplasia del N.O, RD, RP, DM y ambliopía. En el caso de en la sensibilidad al contraste, se evidencio un aumento con el uso de filtros en patologías como escotomas centrales y periféricos, retinopatía diabética. Conclusión: aunque se informa cierta mejoría en algunas personas y un reporte de progreso subjetivo, que puede ayudar integralmente a la rehabilitación mediante una prescripción adecuada en los pacientes con baja visión, es necesario realizar mas estudios con datos más objetivos, ensayos bien controlados y análisis rigurosos, para determinar si se puede obtener algún beneficio real mediante el uso de filtros.UAN Proyectos de ciencia, tecnología, innovación y creación artísticaOptómetraPregradoPresencialspaUniversidad Antonio NariñoOptometríaFacultad de OptometríaMedellínBaja Visión, Filtros ópticos, Rehabilitación.Low Vision, Optical Filters, Rehabilitation.Uso de los filtros en pacientes de baja visiónTrabajo de grado (Pregrado y/o Especialización)http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85ORIGINAL2020_ErikaPaolaPalaciosPalacios.pdf2020_ErikaPaolaPalaciosPalacios.pdfTrabajo de gradoapplication/pdf409173https://repositorio.uan.edu.co/bitstreams/5e676396-41dd-47b0-a811-ac6eb6d26e0e/downloadd455a84e0cf6de3b50a49fd40e87b8b2MD512020_ErikaPaolaPalaciosPalacios_Autorización.pdf2020_ErikaPaolaPalaciosPalacios_Autorización.pdfAutorización autoresapplication/pdf609199https://repositorio.uan.edu.co/bitstreams/a474133d-8654-4cc2-9982-282feaf748c8/downloadce2c9d24206ec71833295249a4149a0aMD52CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
