Summary: | he aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the kvaal method in Colombian population for the estimation of dental age, using panoramic radiographs of patients aged 18 to 60 years who attended the dentistry clinics of the Antonio Nariño University between the years 2018 to 2022 being an analytical observational study. ImageJ image processing software was used for the measurement of the variables using six teeth, upper central incisor, upper lateral, upper second premolar, mandibular lateral incisor, mandibular canine and first premolar and for each tooth the respective T variables were determined: Tooth to root length ratio (tooth/root); R: Pulp to tooth length ratio; P: Pulp to root length ratio; and pulp to root width ratio in the three levels (A, B and C) according to kvaal in 1995, in this way the data were entered into the SPSS software for statistical analysis of the data. The results evidenced significant differences between the root portions of A and C width and in the maximum tooth length (T), with better age estimation in the upper lateral incisor tooth due to the statistically significant value (p=, 000).
