Summary: | Gingival recession is defined as the apical migration of the gingival margin with respect to the enamel-cementum junction, which leaves the root cement uncovered, and results in a wider clinical crown in the occlusal-gingival direction, which leads to the appearance of esthetic problems, especially in the anterior sector, dentinal hypersensitivity, root caries and abrasion. Its frequency increases with the age of the patient, regardless of their ethnic origin (Brito Chicaiza & Pesántez Chacón, 2016). |
