Both localities recorded in the program of the Mexican Tourism Ministry, Pueblos Mágicos. As should cater to tourism activity and the way its development affects the relationship between architectural heritage, tradition and local people, in the processes of conservation and integral management of cultural heritage and its articulation with the social in search of affirming the identity of.La indivisibilidad entre patrimonio cultural material e inmaterial ha generado en la actualidad un debate que está sometiendo a revisión la forma en que se ha estado trabajando la cuestión patrimonial de manera separada. En este trabajo se toman las categorías de patrimonio arquitectónico y tradición para abonar al debate sobre el tratamiento integral del patrimonio cultural, a partir del análisis de dos casos particulares: Tapalpa y San Sebastián del Oeste, en el Estado de Jalisco. Ambas localidades inscritas en el Programa Pueblos Mágicos de la Secretaría de Turismo de México.
