Description
Summary:Haemonchus contortus is a hematophagous gastrointestinal parasite of the order Strongylida that is located in the abomasum of sheep causing anemia, and great economic losses to its producers, this nematode is more frequent in hot and humid climates. In the present work, a prospective descriptive study was carried out in which the frequency of the parasite Haemonchus contortus was determined from samples taken at random from the rectum of sheep and in their pen, located in the San Pedro farm, locality. from Usme, these samples were analyzed using the Mac master and qualitative simple flotation methods which allowed to confirm the presence of the parasite and the parasite load present in the sampled animals; In addition, it was concluded that newly calved females have a high parasite load since they are more susceptible to this parasitosis due to the immunosuppression that usually occurs during this stage, generating greater contamination in the pen, on the other hand, the efficacy of the use of homeopathic products was established. for the prevention and control of the nematode since the parasite load decreased when the products were administered to the animals.
