This will allow us to seek the idea of a cultural independence of literature, and to present the figure of two great writers who embody two ways of taking the challenge of that independence: Andres Bello and Domingo Faustino Sarmiento.Al abordar el tema “Literatura e independencia” como objeto de reflexión en este escrito, es pertinente dar una mirada y hacer un análisis, así sea somero, de la situación de los ‘ilustrados’ en la Nueva Granada, y del papel que desempeñaron en la conformación cultural de la sociedad neogranadina.
