| Summary: | Recall therapy is an integral part of dental treatment. Patients should be informed of the disease process, therapeutic alternatives, potential complications, expected results, and their responsibility in treatment. Consequences of no treatment should be explained. Failure to comply with a maintenance program may result in recurrence or progression of the disease process. Unfortunately, all of these recommendations are not being used in the dental schools, dental offices, clinics and IPS (Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios). The goal of this article is to give the bases to establish an integral maintenance program and its protocol. |
