After a series of anthropological considerations that may apply to her as a symbol of peace, the article (with appropriate references to Mary) analyzes the Christological implications that break any hint of violence that can appeal to the gospel. Also a littleknown text by St. Thomas Aquinas concerning peace is analyzed. To finish by appealing to forgiveness as one of the best roads that lead to peace and allow to live in liberty. El pueblo cristiano siempre ha visto concentradas en María las mejores virtudes humanas. No es extraño que también la paz haya sido relacionada con ella. La liturgia eucarística la califica de alumna de la paz. Tras una serie de consideraciones antropológicas que pueden aplicársele como símbolo de paz, el artículo (con las referencias adecuadas a María) analiza las implicaciones cristológicas que rompen con cualquier asomo de violencia que pueda apelar al evangelio. También se analiza un texto poco conocido de santo Tomás de Aquino en relación a la paz.
