Description
Summary:This article explores how a project of the Colombian evangelical church, Faith and Displacement, confronts the extreme poverty which results from forced displacement in Colombia and thereby responds to various challenges raised in the conference of Medellín (especially “La pobreza de la Iglesia”, “Pastoral popular” and “Pastoral de élites”). It outlines the pedagogical and research methodology of the project, the academic theological reflection developed in relation to economic topics, and how those reflections were integrated into the materials designed for pastors, professionals, and displaced persons. Thus, it proffers an example of how one community of faith seeks to respond to the “signs of the times”, incarnating a preferential Christian option for Colombians displaced by the armed conflict.
