Through gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, 31 compounds were determined, the main ones were citral, then β-myrcene, among others with a percentage between 6% and lower than 2%. The essential oil extracted with this crop under the environmental conditions present in the municipality of Yopal, showed less composition of citral, main compound reported in other parts of the world, however, its high percentage of myrcene attributes other medicinal properties of equal commercial interest in the pharmaceutical industry. Resumen — Entre julio de 2016 y junio de 2017 se sembraron 200 plantas de limonaria (Cymbopogon citratus) en la Vereda Picón Arenal del municipio de Yopal, durante un ciclo de un año se realizaron 3 cortes de la hoja para su destilación y extracción de aceite esencial. Se encontró un rendimiento de 0.004 P/P en el primer corte, 0.003 P/P en el segundo y 0.002 P/P en el tercero. A través de una cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas se determinaron 31 compuestos, siendo los principales el citral, luego el β-mirceno, entre otros con porcentajes de 6% y otros menores al 2%. El aceite esencial extraído con este cultivo bajo las condiciones ambientales presentes en el municipio de Yopal, mostraron menos composición de citral, principal compuesto reportado en otras partes del mundo, sin embargo, su alto porcentaje de mirceno le atribuye otras propiedades medicinales de igual interés comercial en la industria farmacéutica.Resumo— Durante Julho de 2016 e Junho de 2017 foi plantda uma cultura de 200 plantas de erva-limão (Cymbopogon citratus) no distrito de Picón Arenal, no município de Yopal. Durante todo o ciclo, foram feitos 3 cortes da folha para a sua destilação e extracção de óleo essencial. Foi encontrado um rendimento de 0,004 P/P no primeiro corte, 0,003 P/P no segundo e 0,002 P/P no terceiro. Através da cromatografia gasosa acoplada à espectrometria de massa, foram determinados 31 compostos, sendo os principais citrais, depois β-mirceno, entre outros com uma percentagem entre 6% e inferior a 2%.
