Summary:This article shows a didactic sequence framed in space environments and mediation training classroom of the Degree in Basic Education with emphasis on Mathematics, University Francisco José de Caldas. This sequence was applied and validated in teaching practice which took place in a District school in the city of Bogota, and had as main objective to develop the concept of scalelength, based on the relationships that exist between the mathematization and modeling, for which research work mathematisation Freudenthal (1968) was used.The sequence is based on a series of activities in second grade, building management methodology DECA model (1992). The most relevant results are related to how students through situations matematizables placed in a specific context, modeling reach metro, decimeter and centimeter as the unit of standard measure.
