Description
Summary:In recent years, Colombia has gone through various socio-historical events generated by the armed conflict, which in turn has resulted from social inequality, especially in relation to land ownership. Several processes have been carried out with illegal groups during different governments, which have sought to achieve the longed-for peace, leaning towards conceiving a socio-political space adjusted to a new social reality, that allows the political participation of new actors and, thus, generate a more inclusive policy. Some armed groups, such as the dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia) (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (Ejército de Liberación Nacional) (ELN), have actively participated in these processes; however, and despite the achievements of the Agreements, the phenomenon of armed conflict in the country has been transformed, thus affecting different spheres of society. These struggles range from the dispute for political power to land control and tenure, which means that territory is considered an essential element of the armed struggle, which is why it calls for a new redistribution of land, that is, an agrarian reform. The national government has implemented public policies with a gender focus, an action that aims to ensure the return of the family to the rural zone and, thus, guarantee, among other demands, self-sufficiency that provides decent living conditions for the family and, especially, for women.
