Summary:The morphology of the root canal walls creates great difficulties filling then with an unique material. In order to obtain the three-dimensional seal, root canal sealer are required to occupy the spaces between the gutta-percha and the canal walls. In the market, there is a great variety of root canal sealers with different composition and properties that can cause a periapical tissue response and may influence the outcome of endodontic treatment; this paper is an updated review of the most known sealers so that the dentist and specialist get a vision of each one of them.
