Understanding this subject has implied the management thinking to focus its attention on key issues that generate different approaches to different moments in the history of organizations, particularly since the rise of modern capitalism. This article presents evidence of the evolution of general management theory, showing how each school of thought on management offers responses to organizational situations, and how the principles of each theory are applied to different historical moments of the organizations, and at the same time adjusting to new emerging management models.Al referirnos a la relación entre la administración y la organización, ha de tenerse presente que es la administración la única disciplina capaz de interpretar el objeto de estudio que es la organización. La comprensión de este objeto ha implicado para el pensamiento administrativo concentrar la atención en aspectos fundamentales que generan planteamientos diferentes para momentos diferentes en la historia de las organizaciones, particularmente a partir del surgimiento del capitalismo moderno. El presente artículo evidencia la evolución de la teoría general de la administración, mostrando cómo cada escuela del pensamiento administrativo propone respuestas a situaciones organizacionales, y cómo los principios de cada teoría cobran vigencia en los distintos momentos históricos de las organizaciones, ajustándose a la par del advenimiento de los nuevos modelos de gestión.Après nous avoir rapportés à la relation entre l’administration et l’organisation, on a à avoir le présent qui est l’administration la discipline unique capable d’interpréter l’objet d’étude qui est l’organisation. La compréhension de cet objet a impliqué pour la pensée administrative concentrer l’attention dans les aspects fondamentaux qui génèrent différents établissements pour différents moments dans l’histoire des organisations, particulièrement à partir du surgissement du capitalisme moderne.
