Psychopathy is a construct that has a great relevance in forensic psychology, and despite of the broad studies, there is not a consensus in aspects such as the definition or the assessment of this construct. The objective of this study is to make a systematic review to answer the question of how the construct of psychopathy is defined and evaluated. 107 studies were selected that fulfill the criteria of inclusion and exclusion that were determined. The results of this systematic analysis indicate that there are discussions regarding theoretical aspects of this construct. Similarly, the research has been centered in theoretical or instrumental aspects, leaving aside others that have a great relevance as the treatment. This study found that nowadays it exists a discussion around its conceptualization, as some authors consider it as the antisocial personality disorder, while others argue that it is different. Likewise, it was found that the greater quantity of research of this topic has been published in English language. For future research it is suggested to make an approach in aspects as the treatment of psychopathy, and in the same way, it is recommended to publish research in Spanish language to encourage research of this topic in countries of Iberoamérica.
