description	Cuando no existe un interés por el carácter topológico de un elemento urbano, especialmente por edificaciones de marcado valor patrimonial, sus posteriores desarrollos pueden generar distorsiones en el contexto en el que están emplazadas. Este trabajo, dedicado al estudio del desarrollo del campus central de la Universidad Industrial de Santander, su planteamiento inicial y su estado actual hasta la fecha, tiene como finalidad realizar un planteamiento sostenible por medio del desarrollo de una propuesta arquitectónica, con el objetivo de responder a las necesidades actuales del campus y su comunidad, de manera coherente y respetuosa con el entorno desde el punto de vista del ejercicio arquitectónico. Durante el proceso, se indagaron criterios sobre la ciudad universitaria y su naturaleza, revisando registros fotográficos, físicos y políticos que determinaron el proceso de desarrollo del campus principal de la universidad, lo cuales permitieron formular una serie de lineamientos básicos para el desarrollo de futuras intervenciones en el campus, todos ellos aplicados en la propuesta de diseño para la consolidación de un complejo de Biblioteca en el corazón de la universidad.

This work, dedicated to the study of the development of the central campus of the Industrial University of Santander, its initial approach and its current status to date, aims to make a sustainable approach through the development of an architectural proposal, with the aim of responding to the current needs of the campus and its community, in a manner that is consistent and respectful of the environment from the point of view of the architectural exercise.
