Introducción: la relación entre la enfermedad periodontal y las complicaciones en el embarazo han suscitado un creciente interés en la comunidad científica. Son muchas las publicaciones relacionadas con el tema, sin embargo, no existe algún trabajo que indique cuáles son los 100 artículos más citados. Objetivo: Identificar los 100 artículos más citados en revistas científicas sobre la asolación entre la enfermedad periodontal y complicaciones en el embarazo como preeclampsia, parto pretérmino y bajo peso al nacer. Materiales y Métodos: se realizó un estudio bibliométrico utilizando una muestra que abarcó la literatura científica en la base de datos de Scopus desde enero de 1996 hasta junio de 2023. Complementado con un cuestionario en Google Forms, donde se registró la información extraída de la fuente de datos. Se recopilaron variables, como título del artículo, nombre de la revista, país de publicación, año de publicación y número de citaciones, para su posterior análisis. Se establecieron criterios de inclusión para la selección de artículos originales que abordaran esta asociación, mientras que se excluyeron estudios con experimentación in vitro. Resultados: se identificaron los 100 artículos más citados en Scopus, se observó un aumento notable en la producción de artículos durante el periodo comprendido entre 2001 y 2008, con un 68% de ellos, encabezados por el trabajo de Offenbacher (8%), el cual mostró un número considerable de citaciones tanto en Scopus como en Google Scholar. Las revistas destacadas en este análisis fueron el Journal of Clinical Periodontology (25%) y el Journal of Periodontology (21%), con un predominio de publicaciones de origen estadounidenses en un 46,9% en este campo. Conclusiones: se encontró diversidad de temas abordados en los artículos seleccionados, desde estudios epidemiológicos hasta investigaciones clínicas, lo que subraya la multidimensionalidad de la relación entre la enfermedad periodontal y las complicaciones en el embarazo. |

There are many publications related to the topic, however, there is no work that indicates which are the 100 most cited articles. Objective: Identify the 100 most cited articles in scientific journals on the devastation between periodontal disease and complications in pregnancy such as preeclampsia, preterm birth and low birth weight. Materials and Methods: a bibliometric study was carried out using a sample that covered the scientific literature in the Scopus database from January 1996 to June 2023.
