La práctica de cualquier deporte a nivel competitivo o recreativo, en niños y adultos, los expone a posibles accidentes que pueden conllevar a traumas dentoalveolares, teniendo en cuenta que entre el 25-30 % de las lesiones ocurren durante los entrenamientos, especialmente en deportes de alto impacto como el rugby, el baloncesto o el fútbol. Objetivo general: Determinar el conocimiento de los entrenadores y deportista de alto impacto en la ciudad de Bucaramanga antes y después de la implementación de un material educativo sobre el manejo inmediato del trauma dentoalveolar. Metodología: Se diseñó un estudio cuasi experimental, aplicando una encuesta previa de los conocimientos acerca del Trauma Dento Alveolar (TDA) a un grupo de 38 entrenadores y deportistas de alto impacto (ligas de baloncesto, rugby, fútbol). Seguido a esto se implementó el manual educativo, usando estrategias didácticas con el fin de instruir y dar a conocer el manejo adecuado cuando se presente un evento de trauma en el momento de su práctica deportiva, al finalizar se aplicó una nueva encuesta para determinar el conocimiento adquirido después de la implementación del material. Resultados: La mayoría de los encuestados reconocen la importancia de tener conocimientos sobre el TDA y muestran un mediano nivel de conocimiento general antes de la intervención educativa (84,21%). Conclusiones: Los participantes del estudio, donde se encontraban deportistas y entrenadores, tenían en su mayoría un nivel medio de conocimiento con respecto al manejo inmediato del trauma dentoalveolar. La aplicación de la intervención educativa logró que el total de la población alcanzara niveles altos de conocimiento con respecto al manejo inmediato en este tipo de situaciones. |

The practice of any sport at a competitive or recreational level, in children and adults, exposes them to possible accidents that can lead to dentoalveolar trauma, taking into account that between 25-30% of injuries occur during training, especially in high-impact sports such as rugby, basketball or soccer. Aim: To determine the knowledge of high-impact coaches and athletes in the city of Bucaramanga before and after the implementation of educational material on the immediate management of dentoalveolar trauma. Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was designed, applying a previous survey of knowledge about Alveolar Trauma (TDA) to a group of 38 high-impact coaches and athletes (basketball, rugby, soccer). Following this, the educational manual was implemented, using didactic strategies in order to instruct and make known the adequate management when a trauma event occurs at the time of sports practice. At the end, a new survey was applied to determine the knowledge acquired after the implementation of the material. Results: Most of the respondents recognize the importance of having knowledge about AD and show a medium level of general knowledge before the educational intervention (84.21%). Conclusions: The study participants, which included athletes and coaches, mostly had a medium level of knowledge regarding the immediate management of dentoalveolar trauma.
